Group Meditation

There are many forms of meditation. You can get hold of many books and CD's on the subject and, with a bit of determined persistence, succeed. But, for many of us, it is advantageous to be in a small group of people with whom to meditate. The group provides encouragement and exercises some gentle external discipline to its members, thereby removing some mental work from the lone meditator.
You too can benefit from group-led meditation.
In a group there is no need for part of the mind to be controlling the meditation via a book or mandela, or by having to do your own playing of CDs etc. And there can be a useful element of the unknown when someone else is doing the leading.
Some may find the idea of sitting in a group for meditation a little unnerving, thinking that they may be called to lead the group or be asked embarrassing questions. But, in the well-led group there will be a minimum of words without discussion or pseudo-psychological delving into you personality. After each session some members may wish to tell others of what they have just experienced, but this doesn't always occur. It’s all more a case of just to quietly and comfortably be yourself. And, amongst other things, it can help you to be a better dowser or Reiki practitioner!
Good group meditation isn't used to "grind axes", impose theories or be dogmatic. Rather it respects the inner ideas and beliefs of each person present without looking for any discussion or "qualifying" belief. There is more a gratefulness for each person’s presence in the group without persuasions and questionings. These feelings are well known to those who have benefited from group meditation.
